Ito Mohamed sings the blues and been singing it for years and first came to fame with the Blues Gang.
With his ubiquitous fedora, shades and white goatee, he cuts a striking figure with whichever backing band either at clubs or on concert stages.
And his raspy voice also cuts through the smoky dingy clubs where blues and rock gets an airing in a world of pop and autotune.
Ito and surviving members of the Blues Gang – cofounder Jim Madasamy died this year, are among those who have entertained Malaysians for years and inspired many to play the blues, funk, rock and other genres.
Go catch them when they play as the Blues Gang or as Purple Haze.
